Getting to the Next Level-The Short Version

I get asked from time to time.. what does a former pro caddie think is the most important thing for an aspiring scratch player to do to get to the next level.. maybe play pro?

Get a few things out of the way. Be healthy in mind, body and spirit. Get your bag in order and leave it alone for a couple of years. Spend the dough to get pro fit. Read Ray Floyd's book. Maybe read Joe Parent's Zen Golf. Then go to work on the preshot routine. See the shot. Every night before you play go over the round in your head. See the ball bounce on the fairway into the perfect approach position. See a nice soft fade land and roll to the hole. Make the putt. Mark the card. Move on.

One of my Caddie friends was at Sherwood CC when Tiger had come to practice there. He spent an hour rehearsing his pre-putt routine and practicing his takeaway.. No putts.. For an hour. All the details.
